Daniel J. Bowen is a composer, arranger, pianist and activist. As a composer, he has released two EP’s including, Blood Moon, an emotive, cinematic soundscape of orchestral and electronic textures, inspired by a dream foreshadowing tough times for humanity. Daniel composed the musical Anthem for the National Hockey League’s 2022 Stanley Cup Finals Opener and the score for an American Experience documentary, Zora Neale Hurston: Claiming A Space, which aired in January 2023 and is currently streaming on PBS. His most recent work includes the score for When Faith Calls, a docuseries produced by The King Center and Dr. Bernice A. King, daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., premiering this summer at The Carter Center in Atlanta.

As an arranger, he has composed orchestral arrangements for Grammy winning and Emmy nominated producers, including Adam Blackstone and Dana Sorey. Daniel’s arrangements have been featured on national television broadcasts including projects for the NBA, NHL, TNT, ESPN and Bravo.

As an activist, Daniel founded and launched Symphony 21, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to music, technology, and visual arts for underserved youth across Maryland's Eastern Shore. Through cinematic orchestral performances, summer camps, and in-school outreach, Symphony 21 has reached over 10,000 students across the region. His success with Symphony 21 gained the attention of The Kennedy Center, where he was invited to perform and lecture during the The REACH Opening Festival, presented by the National Symphony Orchestra. In 2019, the NAACP awarded Daniel their Community Service Award, for Symphony 21’s impact on youth in the region.
